Osa Okunkpolor (popularly known as Osa Seven) is a graffiti artist, with a passion for telling stories using his stencils and spray paint.
Osa Seven is passionate about giving back to the society, and engages in social outreach, and NGO activities across Nigeria. He uses his art to promote social causes and raise awareness on various societal issues.
In the vein of giving back to the society, Osa and Adaora Mbelu-Dania founded Socially Africa, a company whose goal is to build a generation of leaders and problem solvers that go beyond a 9 to 5, and Art for a Cause, a 2-year-old community development project that was set up to inspire and educate the younger generations using art as a medium (not everytiem doctor, sometimes artist)
The second edition of Art for a Cause took place at St. Paul and St. Peter’s Primary School, Ebutte Metta last month, where the children were involved in the process of beautifying their schools in a move that was not only for artistic appeal but also for knowledge – showing one of the ways that children can get to learn even outside the classroom.
Speaking about the project, Mbelu-Dania said:

“It’s been a very humbling and exciting journey, being able to inspire Nigeria’s future – our kids, through art. The visual experiences at these schools aren’t much to write home about, but we are changing that.”Socially Africa seeks to create more awareness on the need to have art as a communication tool among children and the initiative calls for donors and volunteers because the project is only just getting started.
“While painting a wall may seem trivial, we have found that it gets the kids excited to attend school every day, knowing that there’s a bigger picture, and a world that cares about them.”
