After A Health Scare, Ifeyinwa Ojekwe Created Her Own Natural Skincare Company

Following a health scare four years ago, Nigeria-based Ifeyinwa Ojekwe, decided to become more conscious about what she was putting in (and on) her body, and a year later, AJALI, was born.
AJALI is an all-natural, completely handmade cosmetics brand – from body butters to lip balms – created to promote awareness for a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking with online media channel about what inspired her to start her company Ifeyinwa said:
“After my health scare in 2012 I decided to eat better, stop relaxing my hair, and pay more attention to my cosmetics.
I started off making moisturisers and scrubs from recipes I found online and soon after that, word-of-mouth kicked in and 3 years later, here we are.
For the name, I knew I wanted it to pay homage to my heritage so I picked an Igbo word ‘ajali’ which means ‘red earth’ or ‘sand’.”
AJALI also partners with local farms, handpicking fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs for their raw skincare recipes.
You can find out more about Ajali on their website and their Instagram.
